Nearly 80% of grain procurement plan fulfilled in Belarus

 Some 642,700 tonnes of grain has been procured in Belarus, or 77.3% of the public procurement plan, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 16 August, 1.82 million hectares planted to grain and leguminous crops (excluding corn, buckwheat, millet) were harvested, or almost 87.4% of the target. In the lead is Mogilev Oblast with 296,900 hectares, or 98.9% of the plan. It is followed by Brest Oblast with 320,400 hectares, or 95.4% of the areas cropped. Gomel Oblast cropped 90.2% of its areas (308,600 hectares), Minsk Oblast 84.3% (399,300 hectares), Vitebsk Oblast 81.5% (260,500 hectares) and Grodno Oblast 75.1% (234,600 hectares).

All in all, 5,680,000 tonnes of grain were threshed, with the average yield at 31.2 centners per hectare.

The second hay cutting was completed on 773,000 hectares (95.2% of the plan). A total of 843,300 tonnes of hay (75.5% of the target) has been harvested so far, as well as 11.935 million tonnes of haylage (88.4%) and 367,200 tonnes of silage (1.9%).
