Following the talks in Minsk, the foreign ministers of Belarus and Russia, Sergei Aleinik and Sergey Lavrov, signed a joint statement on the foreign policy dimension of the Union State integration, BelTA has learned.

In the statement, the ministers lauded the results of the official visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Belarus, the first country of the Commonwealth of Independent States he visited after his re-election.

"Inviolability of fraternal friendship between the Belarusian and Russian peoples, reliable alliance and truly strategic partnership have been demonstrated once again," the document says.

The Foreign Ministries intend to continue to make every effort to implement the agreements reached by the heads of state.

"Our countries are confidently following the constructive path of building the Union State. In difficult modern conditions, we have achieved a fundamentally new level of Belarusian-Russian integration," the statement said. "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation will continue to provide comprehensive foreign policy support for the Union State integration and strengthen the position of the Union State in the international arena."
