As of 1 April 2024, a total of 136,502 large families have opened deposit accounts in Belarus under the family capital program, including 82,600 deposit accounts to the total amount of $826 million and 53,800 deposit accounts to the total amount of Br1.36 billion, BelTA has learned from the Belarusian Labor and Social Security Ministry’s press service.
As of 1 April, a total of 83,685 families applied for permission to use family capital ahead of schedule. Of them, 67,998 applied to use the money to improve housing conditions, 9,269 to receive healthcare services, 6,413 to pay for education and five to buy health products for disabled people.
The ministry granted permission to use family capital earlier to 81,185 applicants. Most of such applicants are from Brest Oblast (16,998). Then goes Vitebsk Oblast with 7,825 families, Gomel Oblast with 13,129, Grodno Oblast – 9,426, Minsk Oblast – 14,119, Mogilev Oblast – 8,256 and the city of Minsk – 11,432.
The Labor and Social Security Ministry noted that the family capital program applies to families raising three and more children. From 1 January till 31 December 2024 the family capital equals Br31,480.
