A large delegation from the city of Luohe in the Chinese province of Henan is visiting Grodno, its universities and enterprises in order to establish bilateral trade, economic, cultural and educational ties within the framework of the protocol of intent to establish friendly relations between the city of Luohe and Grodno, BelTA has learned.
The guests from China discussed the prospects for enrollment of students from China in Grodno universities. Vice Rector of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Leonty Pavlov said that 140 young people from China are currently studying at the university: 80 of them are undergraduates, 60 are studying under bachelor's programs. The greatest demand is pedagogical, economic and physical training majors.
"The university has developed a plan of export-oriented education programs that we teach in English," Leonty Pavlov said. "These are 22 bachelor's programs and 23 master's programs."
Grodno State University has concluded agreements on international cooperation with 37 universities and colleges of the People's Republic of China. The university has wide experience in joint educational programs: students study for a certain period of time in both universities, and as a result they receive diplomas from two universities. The first such agreement was signed with Chongqing University. Now such programs are being prepared with two more Chinese institutions of higher education. The vice rector expressed his hope that these joint programs would be launched the next academic year
Grodno State Medical University and Grodno State Agrarian University also offered the Chinese guests student training programs. The delegation of Louhe businessmen is visiting a number of Grodno enterprises: Molochny Mir, Grodno Meat Packing Plant, and Gronitex.
"The protocol of intent between Grodno and Luohe was signed on15 May of this year," Grodno Vice Mayor Dmitry Mikhalsky said. “Today we are hosting the delegation from China within the framework of this protocol, our goal is to develop cooperation in trade, economy and education. Chinese businessmen have expressed interest in food production enterprises. Molochny Mir dairy, Grodno Meat Processing Plant, ABC Firm and a number of other manufacturers export their products to China.
