Over 1,000 vacant state property facilities are available for purchase across the country, BelTA learned from Zhanna Podobedova, Head of the State Property Management Office of the Central Office for Property Management of the State Property Committee, at a press conference on 28 July.
The official said that over 1,000 vacant state property facilities are available for sale at present, including over 300 state properties that can be bought for as little as one base amount (Br27 at present). Most of the facilities are located in the countryside. Many of them are former social infrastructure facilities: first-aid stations, schools, community centers.
Belarus president decree No.169 on the management of state property was passed last year. The document simplifies some practices in order to reintroduce the idle state property into the economy. For instance, some facilities can be bought for one base amount. The buyer needs to meet one of the conditions: the facility can be used to do business, the facility can be remodeled into a residence or can be used for gardening, or the facility can be demolished. Apart from that, municipal authorities are allowed to sell real estate for one base amount right away, without a preliminary auction all over Belarus (except for oblast capitals and Minsk).
In line with the presidential decree vacant state property can be handed over to a private owner free of charge if the owner intends to implement an investment project. An entrepreneur is allowed to use the facility for free if new jobs are to be created. It is also now possible to extend the period of payment by installment for buying such facilities.
