A batch of new equipment will be delivered to the Berestovitsa checkpoint on the Belarusian-Polish border in April, BelTA learned from the Grodno Regional Customs.

The border checkpoint will get detectors and videoendoscopes allowing to discover traces of narcotics and explosives and find restricted and prohibited goods hidden in vehicles. The equipment will be delivered in line with the international technical assistance project “Construction of an X-ray scanning vehicle inspection system at the Berestovitsa border checkpoint”.

The design documentation to construct the facility has already been harmonized and approved. It provides for erecting an administrative building and a shed for the inspection complex. Belarus has announced an open international tender to choose a contracting company to build and commission the facility, deliver the stationary complex, and train specialists.

The project is being implemented under the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2014-2020. It is aimed to speed up inspection of vehicles at the checkpoint and help tackle crimes and offenses, including in customs regulation.
