Power supply has been restored in over 400 populated localities, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.
Thunderstorms accompanied by gale winds and torrential rains and by hail in some places affected most of the country's territory in the last 24 hours. Electricity supply was restored in 444 populated localities during the day, the Energy Ministry said.
Electrical companies constantly monitor the situation and stay in touch with municipal authorities, territorial units of the Emergencies Ministry, and the National Center for Hydrometeorology, Radioactive Contamination Control, and Environmental Monitoring. Work to fix consequences of bad weather continues. The efforts are complicated by a large number of fallen trees and branches.
As of 17:00 power disruptions were registered in 109 populated localities primarily in Grodno Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast. The necessary number of personnel and vehicles has been deployed in order to complete restoration work as soon as possible.
